Sweet day

It's so funny how sometimes I think of a title to my post and all I can do is think in English. Sometimes I find good words in Portuguese to translate and other times I decide to stick with the title in English. That's the case today.

So...today was a sweet day. Never took my pajamas off. School was 2 hours late because of the snow we had yesterday. No one seemed to be in a hurry. And that set the pace for the day.

I must have said that before but I'll say it again, I love this time of the year. I love the lights, I love the decorations, I love the Christmas tree, I love the songs in the radio, I love the anticipation that every new day brings, I love how people become more generous, I love to shop for my kids and the teachers and friends and family, I love to drop off boxes in the mail to be shipped to Brasil, I love to do the Christmas cards, I love the Christmas traditions, I love the parties, I even love the cold weather (only at this time of the year though!).

Today I spent basically all day doing one of the things I like the best: wrapping gifts and putting them under the tree. And now for the rest of the days that precede Christmas the kids try to guess whose each gift is and what it is. And while I was doing all this the kids were playing outside with whatever was left of snow.

Yes, I should not feel guilty to admit that I love this time of the year. But I do, a little. Because not everyone is sharing this happiness with me.

So I urge that we turn our hearts for people around the world and try to make even the smallest diference. If you don't know where to turn, here is a suggestion www.charitywater.org or here Make this enchanting time of the year not only yours! You will feel great, I promise.
